The Alonzo Palmateer you mention I have as Lorenzo Palmateer on the 1861 Census in Northumberland County in Cramahe Township at five years of age.He is the son of Alva(h) Palmateer and Maria(h) Dusenbury (I believe).
Alva Palmateer is a twin brother to Chester Palmateer as they were both born in 1822-1823, likely to Francis Palmateer and an unknown wife.Francis Palmateer came from the United States (and likely Dutchess County) about 1794, with either a brother or cousin named Simon (Simeon) Palmateer. Both appear in the 1804 Census (Names of heads of households only) in Cramahe Township.
On the 1871 Census in Cramahe Township, AlvaPalmateer and Mariah Dusenbury have the following children:Alfred Palmateer (19), Lorenzo Palmateer (14), Jane Palmateer (10), Israel Palmateer (12), Alvah Palmateer, Jr. (8), Loisa Palmateer (7), Mariah Palmateer (5), Rosey Palmateer (3) and Carmen Palmateer (1).Living with them is Stotts Carl (25, and should be Carroll) and Sarah Palmateer (17) who were married in February of the 1871 Census year.
By the 1881 Cramahe Township Census, Alva Palmateer is listed as 59 and Mariah is 49.Lorenzo is listed as 23, Israel is 21, Alva Jr., is 19, Maria is 17, Roccina (Roxanne) is 13 and Carmen is 11.Jane from the 1871 Census married Jonathan Hawley in 1879; and Alfred Palmateer had married Elizabeth Bull in 1875.
Alva Palmateer (the father) died in April of 1887.
So far I have no record of any of the children for the 1891 Census except for Alfred Palmateer (who is listed as Ashford) living with Elizabeth Hilton, whom he married after his first wife Elizabeth Bull died.
Would love to get more info on this family that apparently moved to the States and to Michigan from your post several years ago.
