Freida, I hope you are still out there.I think I have a connection but am not sure exactly. In the 1850 Cherokee Cty. GA Census, page 507B there is the family of Wm Griffin (24), Mary A(18), Martha (1) and James J (1/12). The next family is David McElroy (30), Martha (32), Sarah F.(8).The next family is Thomas Griffin.
I am almost positve that Sarah F. McElroy is my ggggrandmother. She was supposedly born in Cherokee County.I also believe that David McElroy's wife is Martha Ann Elizabeth Palmer (Palmore). There were a Martha A. E. Palmer and a David J. Mcleroy married in Walton County on 15 Jul 1841.
It would make sense that Martha Palmore is the sister of Mary Griffin who lived next door. This is a lot of loose facts that seem to tie together.I do not know why the McElroy's were in Cherokee County. They were married in Walton Co.I know that by 1860, Sarah F. was back in Walton County and married.
I would like to hear from you about my conjecture.I have had a very hard time with this Palmore/McElroy line, but your posting seems to help tie things together.
