Born December 12, 1923 in Walters, OK, he lived most of his years in the Hemet-San Jacinto Valley in California.Alvie, an artist, was a gentle and kind man. A veteran of W.W.II, he received several medals including a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. As was his nature he held no animosity toward the Japanese.A caregiver that devoted his life to his parents and daughters, he is preceded by his father and mother James and Anita Pannell, a beloved daughter, Glenda Price and a brother, Alfred.He leaves behind beautiful memories for his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David Griffis, Dalby Springs, TX; two sons, Dean Cox and Don Cox and wife Judy, Mt. Herman, OK; one brother Lee Roy Pannell, LaGrange, GA; two sisters, Faye Mitchell, LaGrange and Deloris Stringer, Rialto, CA; two grandchildren whom he adored and gave him great joy during his last years, Thomas and Kathryn Griffis, Dalby Springs. Grandchildren left to cherish his gentle nature are Jere Carrell and Billy, Dylan Price and Sara, Christina Driesel and Willard, Carrie Letrail and her husband Mike currently serving in Iraq, who "Papa" wished a safe homecoming.Services are 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow. Rev. Melvin Baker will officiate. Interment will follow at Broken Bow Cemetery.
