I am stilling looking for the parents of my John Pannell b. possibly in 1790 in what some believe to be Roane County, TN. On the 1880 Blount County Alabama Census John's eldest son by his second wife lists his father's birth state as SC. Then in the 1880 Miss. census his eldest son by his first wife lists his father's birth state as VA. Also in the 1880,1900 & 1910 Morgan Co., AL. census John's youngest dau. lists her father's birth state also as VA. But in the 1850 Blount County Alabama census John lists his state of birth as TN.
I have always went with the Tennesse birth state, but I come up with nothing every time, same as with VA. I have done very little research on him in South Carolina.
But I am looking now into the possibility of William Pannill b. abt 1768 in Grandville City, NC. as a possible father for John, because this family fits the dates more so than any I have found so far and because the name Walker runs in my line of Ancestors which crosses with Grubbs. William was the stepson of Solomon Walker b. 1742 in NC and his mother was Martha Mitchell, b. abt 1746 in NC. William Pannill, married Martha Walker b. abt 1772 in NC. Their children where: William b. 1794, David b. 1798, Ann b. 1796, Elizabeth b. 1800, JOHN b. 1801 and Samuel Morton b. 1804.
I am wondering if you have ran across this line of Pannills/Pannells. I do plan on searching for a possible will left by William.
