Information found in Northampton Record Book, Vol. 8, pp 135-136. 17 Oct 1660 Katherine Pannuell of Northampton is ordered to stay in custody of James Cit re: death of Ellinor Cowell, her servant. Charges were made that Katherine beat her servant to death because servant talked back to her.
13 Nov 1660. Katherine Pannuell is in Northampton Court accused of murdering Ellinor Cowell, but "by Virtual of ye Kings Pardon is cleard and acquitted of ye Same.

(It's possible from the above statement that Katherine's father was a Custis of Accomack Co., VA. and related to Custis family that married into George Washington's family.
