Jerry,
All I have is death records for the son, Augustus/Augustine of the parents I'm looking for.I'm sure the informatants were not well informed.I think Augustus and his wives were all illiterate, and he didn't marry French speaking women.Augustus' surname is often spelled Poiken in Vermont. It was finally standardized to Perkins. However, I'm sure that this was Anglicized. The records say that the father was Joseph Poiken, the mother Julie Bivens /Boivin/ Boisvert [difficult to read and not reliable] and that he was born in Burkes Corners, Quebec. [I don't think such a place exists or existed.]Augustus b. 1823 and was in VT and married by 1850.He had several children by 2 wives and used many known family names: Augustus, Joseph, Julia and some from wife's family. He had 3 daughters from the 2nd wife, one named Harriet.Do you know where in Quebec your family was located?
Brenda
