I'm descended from Ebenezer T. Hill (b 1800, Waterbury, VT) who was a son of Joshua Hill (b abt 1769, of Waterbury, VT).
I've been trying to determine the identity of Joshua's wife or wives and have a real puzzle on my hands.Below are some of the items that I've found concerning Hills and Parchers in Waterbury and I'm confused. Can anyone out there help with the wife/wives of Joshua and which, if any, Sarah Parcher married Ebenezer Woodbury? 1) VT vital records has a marriage record for an Ebenezer T. Hill marrying Sarah Parcher in Waterbury on 3 Sep 1820. 2) VT vital records have a Joshua Hill marrying Sarah Parcher in Waterbury on 23 March 1820. 3) The Parcher genealogy says that Sarah Parcher (b abt 1775), daughter of Timothy Kearl Parcher and his wife Temperance, married Joshua Hill (b abt 1769). 4) The Parcher genealogy says that Timothy Kearl Parcher left land to, among others, his daughter Sarah Hill. 5) I’ve heard that there is a land record indicating that the wife of Joshua Hill was Sarah Straw Parcher, the widow of Robert Parcher who died in Waterbury in 1814.
I know this sounds crazy, but could Joshua's first wife be Sarah Parcher and his second wife Sarah Straw Parcher??Does anyone have death dates for either of his wives?
