The name Nicholas in the Parham family began about 1732or 1737 when Nicholas Lanier of Prince George Co., gave a gift to his grandson Nicholas Parham with the revision that if Nicholas should die before he comes of age than gift to go to his brother William Parham.Ephraim Parham who probably was a son of Lewis Parham (I) named a son Nicholas.Ephraim died in 1779 Dinwiddie Co., Va.The Exors of his will were Lewis Parham and Nicholas Parham.Nicholas Parham son of Ephraim died before age 21.The estate (land in Sussex Co.) he receivedfrom his father Ephraim reverted to his brother and two sisters, Betsey Parham who m. William Laneir, Joan Parham and Thomas Parham who m. Elizabeth Parham Batte a daughter of Lewis (I) and Sarah Parham.
Then there was another Lewis Parhamof Sussex Co. who died about 1810 and had a son namedNicholas who died in Sussex Co about 1832.
There was another Lewis Parham who died about 1809 in Brunswick Co., but left no children. He left his estate to his brother Nicholas Parham and to his brother William Parham. This Nicholas Parham was of Dinwiddie Co., Va.The brother William Parham is the one who m. Mary Branch.
Nicholas became a Parham name but always with a father named Lewis Parham.I am sure that the last Lewis, and Nicholas Parham with brother William are the two, Lewis and Nicholas who were Exrs of the will of Ephraim Parham who died in 1779.That they were probably a family that consisted of the following.Lewis, Nicholas, Ephraim, William and Sarah Parham. There may have been other females in the family, but since the records of Prince George and Dinwiddie are almost non existent it is hard to know for sure who they were.
I have more information on these families if you would like copies.
