Thank you for all of this information.Oh how I wish this was my Nathaniel Daniel Parkes! However, my Nathaniel Parkes (born about the same time and also ending up in Wisconsin) is searched as follows: 1840 Erie PA census: Dennis Freeman with white males and white females matching the family for that year. 1849 marriage records Trumbel Ohio: Daniel Parks marries daughter of Dennis Freeman (Mary Jane) 1850 Fondulac WI census: Listed as member of Freeman family, born in NY, gives age as 23 (born then about 1827). 1860 census: Family is still in Fond du Lac, but Daniel isn't listed.(Family bible and family letter state Daniel died in a well accident in 1860 before census was taken.) In the past, I spent time researching the Daniel Parkes you list in WI. As you can see, there just isn't a match there. (The name Nathaniel Parks must be like being a John Smith.)I really appreciate you taking time to respond. Perhaps there is some connection in New York. The son of Dennis Freeman was born in Cattaragus NY before they traveled to Erie PA.Do you have any connection with that part of New York?
