Hi again. One other thing you could do is to write to the Chelmsford Town Clerk and ask for your grandparents' death certificates. There is usually some information on it, including the name of the person who provided the information. And, if they were buried in the Chelmsford Cemetery, the Cemetery Office can provide information. And, if they are there, I can take a picture of the stones for you.
There is the large cemetery, and a Catholic cemetery, then 2 small cemeteries, and a graveyard.
And, if you go to www.familysearch.organd look at the SSDI and search for PARLEE in MA, you will see all the people who have died in MA since around 1965.
Do you know about:www.411.comandwww.whitepages.com?
It's tough when you write to potential relatives, and they won't respond to your letters.*
* My main research of 14 years is on the KIDDER name, and my gr-grandfather came from Princeton, Maine.I have been writing to KIDDER's for most of that time in and around Calais, ME, and only one or two sent me a response. It was frustrating. But, someone finally told me that "The people in that area - won't even their mouth for their dentist." :o(
And, on the other side of my family-tree, I have a strong family-mystery - which involves my grandmother's birth and adoption in Boston.I believe the older couple who adopted her in 1892 were her grandparents, and their married daughter in CT had an "unwanted pregnancy."But I cannot prove it.After several years of trying to find out, I learned where some of the married daughter's descendants live in CT.I wrote to them 2 years ago, and there has been no response whatsoever. One possibility is that they know the answer and INSIST on keeping the "family secret" (from 1888).
