Recently learned that my 3G grandmother's maiden name may have been Parliament and I am searching for more information.
My 2G grandparents John and Amy (___) Morgan came from Warwick, Orange NY about 1857 and lived at Victor, Clinton MI. Buried with them at Victor MI is Mary Parliament 1803-1885, who is of age to be Amy's mother. 1850 NY census lists a William and Mary Parliament family (spelling varies) at Monroe, Orange NY - Mary b. abt 1803 by that census, William abt 1798. In 1840 I think John Morgan lived at Hardysten Twp, Sussex NJ (just a possibility from the census). Same census page lists a Samuel Morgan and David Parliament at Hardysten, David Parliament age 30-40.
Because of all these curious coincidences (Morgan and Parliament in Orange Co NY 1850, Morgan and Parliament in Sussex Co NJ 1840, and Parliament buried with Morgan in MI) I am hoping someone may know something of a Morgan/Parliament connection? Because she is buried with Amy Morgan I am of the opinion that Mary Parliament was probably her mother. Does anyone know if Mary was the wife of William Parliament of Monroe, Orange NY and the mother of Amy Morgan? Just to make this a little longer, I haven't found William Parliament in other census records yet but have found a Henry Parliament at Monroe, Orange NY in 1830 (age 20-30) and 1840 (age 30-40). Does anyone know who he is?
Thanks for any information or help anyone could give. - Scott Ives
