MERCER -- Beatrice Rose (Gray) Parlin, 89, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, with her family by her side. She had been a resident at Woodlawn Nursing Home for the past three and half years due to Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Mercer on March 6, 1916, the daughter of George and Bertha (Smith) Gray. She married Kenneth D. Parlin in 1936, and he passed away in 1980. She graduated from Norridgewock High School in 1934.
Mothering was Beatrice's life and she tirelessly and lovingly raised three generations of children right into her 80s. Her favorite pastime was loving cats and kittens with all her heart and also playing the piano by ear.
She was a member of the Sandy River Grange in Mercer for 75 years, where she was lovingly known, by young and old alike, as Gram Bea.
She is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth D. Parlin; and son, Richard Parlin, who passed away in 2002.
