Rosalie Paxson Bye is a distant relative (3rdCousin3times removed) from my husband; does any one have any of her artwork or know where some can be found or purchased, please? born 1853, Wilmington, Delaware died 1949, never married; parents Enoch Mortimer Bye and Phebe Pusey Passmore; (I have a bit more ancestry) lived at Concord Friends Bording Home, West Chester, Pa. Thanks, firstname.lastname@example.org
"Rosalie Paxson Bye was a talented Wilmington Quaker who not only painted pictures and cut silhouettes but also designed and made applique pictures of Quaker men and women in old-style costumes. These became much sought after in gift shops as presents for hostesses or for brides in Quaker weddings. She continued to make them long after she moved into the Concord Friends Boarding Home in West Chester. Rosalie Bye is well remembered by her relatives and a few friends still residing at the Home. She was a spirited lady who, although quite deaf, indignantly refused to wear a modern hearing aid. They describe her rocking contentedly in her favorite chair holding in one hand her after-dinner cigarette and in the other an old battered tin ear trumpet.
