I am a collector of antique pocket watches and recently purchased a watch on ebay made by a jeweller named Robert Paton. It contains a paper advertisement reading as follows: Robert Paton Watchmaker and Jeweller Glasgow Road Burnbank Hamilton.
On the reverse is a handwritten message in pencil dated August 24, 1909,--- the name "Miss Melville"--evidently the lady to whom he sold the watch.
I would very much appreciate any information you might have on Mr. Paton, his family, businesss, etc. Also, if possible, on the Miss Melville who lived in the area. Thanks
