Hi, I'm looking for Daniel and Ruth's family too.
I have Daniel G Pattin born 1807 in New Hampshire married Ruth C Whittier November 22, 1831 in Grafton County, Canaan Township, Canaan, New Hampshire.
Ruth born August 12, 1807 Canaan Township, Canaan, New Hampshire to Daniel Whittier and Lucy Flint.
Also, Lucien B Pattin born 1835 in New Hampshire married Sarah Roxy McColley between 1864 and 1865 in Richland County near Mansfield, Ohio.
Sarah was born April 21, 1841 in Ontario, Ohio to Samuel McColley and Elizabeth Coomler.
Other siblings of Lucien B that I have are:
Albion W Pattin, born 1833
Augusta A Pattin, born 1837
Jane Pattin, born 1842
Eugene L Pattin, born 1846 (I have New Hampshire)
Above from old family records and research (my wife's side). Sources are not easily available to me.
In searching for Daniel's parents and siblings I have run across two other Pattins (spelled with an "e") in the area in New Hampshire, I believe in the 1810 census. I have sort of misplaced that info. I have the 1800 census coming in about a week and will look in to that.
While our side of the family has always used the "Pattin" spelling, early translation and transcription errors often resulted in Pattin, Patten, or Patton being used for members of the same or related families.
I'm inclined to believe that the Patten family migrated from Massachusetts to southeastern New Hampshire (probably to Rockingham and/or Hillsborough counties). From there, I believe Daniel's parents were early settlers in Grafton County, near Canaan somewhere. Possibly I'll find them in the 1800's census. If not, I'll keep looking.
Bruce
