Thanks for your message. This is info I have picked up from www.rootsweb.com on Abraham. You may want to check that out sometime for your self if you haven't already. I have noticed they have an Abraham Southard in the New Jersey and New York area. I noticed the Jane Southard you talked about may have come from New Jersey.
Anyway the Abraham Southard who lived in Maine was married twice according to rootsweb.
married #1 to Jennie (or Jane) Lambert - m. Feb. 25, 1777 in Boothbay or Bath, Maine. Children: all b. - around Boothbay, Maine 1. Elizabeth "Betsey" Southard b. Apr. 25, 1777 2. Amaziah Southard b. March 5, 1780 3. Abraham Southard, Jr. b. Sept. 14, 1782 4. Unknown Southard b. Jan. 20, 1785 5. John Southard - b. May 17, 1786
married #2. Susannah Parris on Dec. 6, 1788 Children: all born in Maine 1. Stephen - Oct. 24, 1789 2. Amos - b. Feb., 18, 1791 3. Amos - b. Sept. 13, 1792 4. Susanne "Sukey" - b. July 16, 1794 5. Issac - b. March 17, 1796 6. Joseph - b. April, 23, 1788 7. Cyrus - b. Sept. 22, 1801
Again you can find all this on www.rootsweb.com - just put in Abraham Southard in the search box - this is all someone else's research and there are other Abraham Southards listed. Also I Have seen that the Abraham in Maine may have had the name "Serote" and later changed it to "Southard".
I haven't delved too deeply into the Southards as I am not sure Betsey Southard is the Betsey that married my Joseph Patten. It seems likely she probably is but have not been able to "prove" it. As for my Joseph Patten, I have not been able to find parents or brothers and sister for him yet.
Anyway with all that I don't know if any of these would be connected to your Jane Southard and William Patton from New Jersey.
It was nice conversing with you and I wish you luck in your further research.
