Anyone out there with any info on Patton/Embrey?? My name is Michele. I have been researching the Patton’s, Embreys and Hickerson for so long that I had given up on finding anything or any relatives!
I will give anyone interested a quick rundown. John Patton is my 5th great…I think I have that right John had Joel Patton who married Asenith, Celia Ceney (all kinds of spellings for her) Embrey. I have Asenith’s parents . Jesse Embrey and Mary Hickerson and Nathaniel and Keziah as her parents. Joel son is John William Patton who marries Susanna Keys- (which really gets tricky because Susanna’s parents are Nancy Ann Patton and John Henry Keys. I believe Nancy and Joel are sister and brother) At least on the marriage bond Joel is the one who consented for her to get married. John William has a daughter Susanna Catherine Patton ..wait for it…who marries none other than…John T. keys! So Susanna Catherine Patton is my 3rd great grandmother…sheesh that was a mouthful! I have lots of stuff from deeds to marriage certificates, bonds ect and a lot of stuff on the kids especially Ludwell Patton and George Patton and the Patton Place on the old Manuel Farm. But can’t find anything on Joel after 1850. I have an indenture,.. I believe is what it is... of some kind of land deal or monies owed to Richard Stone that was to be paid back in Jan 1851 but then he disappears and his wife gets up and moves back to Fauquier with her kids. I can’t find any death dates for Joel or Asenith or where they are buried. I have a few papers from a family bible that says that they are somewhere in Weaveresville, in a little village called St. Stephens. I went to the old church out on 605, Dumfries Road where supposedly they were buried, I went down through Weaverville towards Catlett, can’t find anything. Now there son George W. has bought up all kinds of property in Fauquier and then Prince William but he also lost that from what the court papers say. Something about buying it with the intent of timbering it and he came up short when the note was due to be paid back and they took his land. Anyway I have quite a bit of stuff just don’t know how to put it together or for that matter can’t read this fancy writing that it’s done in ha! Any information anyone has and could share would be greatly appreciated and I could share whatever I have. Thanks so much Michele Nokesville, VA
Oh something else I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this. This is what the papers that I have say about Jessie and Asenith … “Asenith Embrey Patton daughter of Jessie Embrey and her mother a Miss Hickerson and its most certain from the name that her mother’s name Hickerson was also of English descent but her father himself Jessie Embrey of Stafford County, Virginia has been handed down to us through the years suthentiely as being one half Indian, his mother , a full blood Indian girl from the Indian Tribe.” This was in the papers handed down to me. Does anyone know of any truth to this?
