If you look at an atlas, the area of the country that my husband's grandfather came from is close to the borders of Hungary, Poland and the Ukraine. We just found his gr-grandmother listed online at the Ellis Island website and on the ship manifest she claimed to be of the Magyar race, from Rakos, Hungary. His grandfather Andrew Pavelko's naturalization papers say Rakos, Slovakia. Looking on the Family Search website under place name search, I found Rakos was both Hungary AND Slovakia, so it depends on what year it was which country claimed it. Where are you from? We were always told that my husband's grandfather came to the area just south of Pittsburgh and had a store. What we found on his gr-grandmother shows she was joining her husband in Coketon, Tucker County, WV, in December 1904 which was new information to us. Coketon was a mining town.
