THere was a provience in France called SaintOnge. it dates back to the early Roman occupation and apears in the are of Aquataine. it first apears in 450 AD and was occupied by the West Goths.The County of SaintOnge is identified in 1035 and was held by the English from 1188 till 1429.The provience existed as a seperat provience untill after the French Revolution in 1789. in 1792 the old proviences were revamped into the present day geographical regions.
THe name Saint Onge therefore no longer exists as a formal geographical area but the name still does exists and is still used in that area in an informal basis.
The formaer SaintOnge provience is now known as Charente-Maritime
