Roger Peacock and Mary Jane Finlay are recorded in the British Vital Index as having three children.A son, unnamed, born 5 April 1871, William, born 24 August 1873 and Mary Jane, born 24 March 1875.All are registered at Templepatrick. In the case of the unnamed child the mothers name is recorded as Finllay.Templepatrick is about 10 miles north west of Belfast and equally distant between Ballyclare and Antrim. There is another child born 10 May 1868 to Roger Peacock and Mary Jane Furly.I suspect that she is another one of their children. I have no further information.
So far I have identified three families of Peacocks' in Northern Ireland. My family comes from Ballymoney area, including Roseyards and Armoy. There is another family in the Coleraine district, and the third at Finvoy, between Ballymoney and Ballemena. In all three families there are Samuels'.
In the last few weeks I have found out that one of my relatives is buried over near Portstewart and that there additional family members buried there. This opens up a whole new line of enquiry and there is now a posibility that there is a connection between my family and the Coleraine family.I expect to have further information over the next few months. There is also an outside chance that the Finroy family fits in somewhere.
I will be in Northern Ireland in September, to carry out further research with the assistance of some of my Irish friends.
My Grandfather Robert Peacock married Emily Jane Finlay in Melbourne in December 1890. Until recently I believed that Emily was born in Australia and that her family came from Scotland. So many Finlays are cropping up in Northern Ireland I am begining to wonder if she had relatives in NI.Therefore I am interested in your Finlay connection.
