Mr.Peacock, I have been trying to do some census research on Preston Peacock of Johnston Co NC and have found two Preston Peacocks. Your Preston Peacock with wife Hattie, first shows up in the 1910 census in Boonhill with two children,Bessie and Percy. The family is listed as Mulatto. In 1920 they are still in Boonhill with additional children as you stated. From 1880 thru 1920 there is another Preston Peacock in Johnston County who was born 1878 or 1879. His wife's name was Clara/Clary. He was the grandson of Randol Peacock and wife, Esther. This Preston Peacock is probably the son of Margaret Peacock (daughter of Randol and Esther). This family is always listed as Black. (In 1870, Randol and wife Eshter, are enumerated twice in Johnston County. In July they were enumerated in Bentonsville Dist and in Aug they were enumerated in Meadow Dist (both near Selma.) Randol's father could have been Antony Peacock who was 75 yrs old in 1870 in the Meadow Dist.(Randol named a son Antony.)This family does not appear to be the family of your Preston Peacock however there is always the possibility of a connection because of the names, Preston. There are often families with cousins who have the same name. The only notated Mulatto Peacock family in 1880 in Johnston County was that of Isaac Peacock and wife Adelade located in O'neal's township. They had 3 daughters in 1880,Jane, Bettie and Hellen, ages 10, 8, and 5. So it's quite possible that they had more children, and one of them could have been a son. I haven't found Isaac after 1880. There were two large landowner Peacocks in Johnston County in 1860. They are listed as white. The names were Asa B Peacock at Boonhill(Bentonsville) and William Peacock at Newton Grove.I am uncertain at this time just how these two may have been related to the Samuel and John Peacock who came to the area of Wayne/Johnston counties in the 1740's but think there may be a connection. Maybe some of this will give you a clue or an idea as to what areas to pursue in your search for Preston's ancestors. Good luck.
