Hello, I realise it has been quite some time since you posted the information required, but I am sure I can help you.My mother is Florence Myrtle Gibbs, daughter of William Henry Pearse.I have listed the following information for you:- William Henry Pearse was born in 1886 at St. Peters to parents John and Margaret (nee Margaret Wilson) who married in Newtown in 1885. John Pearse was born in 1863 to Amos and Elizabeth Pearse in Newtown (New South Wales).He married Margaret Wilson in 1855 at Newtown.
John and Margaret Pearse had 11 children:-
WILLIAM HENRY born St. Peters (New South Wales) in 1886 FLORENCE born Kogarah in 1888 (married Joseph A Leatham in 1908 at Kogarah) ALBERT born Hurstville in 1893 (married Minnie A McGarry in 1912 at Dubbo (New South Wales) ALFRED born 1894 HERBERT born Hurstville 1895 VICTOR born Hurstville in 1897 (married Muriel E Vickery in 1924 at North Sydney) ARTHUR born Hurstville 1889 (married Alice E Mortlock in 1925 at Hurstville) FREDERICK born Hurstville 1900 LINDA born Hurstville in 1901 (married Norman T Williams in 1923 at Hurstville) BENJAMIN born Hurstville in 1903 (married Amy A Fraser in 1922 at Hurstville) EDWARD born Hurstville 1905 (married Emily A Teasdale in 1927 at Hurstville)
John was known as Dirty Jack because of his frequent use of a spittoon.He swept gutters for a living. He married Euphemia Jane Roberts (born Berrima (New South Wales in 1887 – only daughter of George Roberts and Janet Murie) t St. Johns Anglican Church in 1910 and they had five children:-
WILLIAM GEORGE (known as Bill) born September 8, 1910 at Rockdale JEAN MARGARET born March 30, 1913 at Arncliffe FLORENCE MYRTLE (known as Flo) born June 5, 1915 at Balmain ALFRED HENRY (known as Alf) born March 24, 1920 JOHN PEARSE – date of birth unknown, but it is believed that he was born in 1922, and died in the same year at Hurstville.
Euphemia and William lived in Parkes, Moss Vale and Hurstville.Euphemia owned a general store in Moss Vale for many years.William was a heavy drinker and he and Euphemia separated during the 1930’s.
Following William’s divorce from Euphemia he never remarried, and died of throat cancer in Sydney Hospital in the late 1950’s/ early 1960’s.
It is believed that following his funeral his ashes were scattered at Woronora Cemetery at Sutherland.
