I am new to the Peavey conversations, and hoping you can help.I have a Luther FANNING (b. Kalamazoo or Calhoun, MI abt. 1840, d. abt 1912), who served in the Civil War.My grandmother's box of photos and notes shows a penciled in "PEAVEY" as the name of Luther's mother. There is no father's name listed, and no documentation.
In reviewing the C.W. pension files for Luther, there is a John PEAVEY of Battle Creek, Calhoun, MI appointed as his pension attorney (1889) and a Charles C. PEAVEY who signed various documents for Luther as a notary public (1889 et al.).
There are two Battle Creek, Calhoun, MI Peaveys in the 1880 census: Charles P. PEAVEY (age 47, b. NH, Real Estate/Loan Agent) and John PEAVEY (age 76, b. NH, Hides/Woolkeeping).(They are also listed in 1870.)
I suppose my Luther Fanning and Charles could be cousins, or John an uncle to Luther.Do you know of any connections?
