Henry Peavler appears on the 1850 Sullivan Co., TN census as Henry Pevier or Pevler (the microfilm is difficult to read), with wife Sarah (Nelms, according to other researchers). Children listed are: William,20; Sarah,17; Henry,16; David,15; and John,7.
By 1860, Henry was married to Susan (Susannah Farris), age 23. John,18, was still in the household. There is an additional son, George,2.
In 1870, children listed are George M.,11, and Cornelia I., 6.
Henry had died by 1880, leaving Susannah with George M.,21; Samuel F.,12; Charles M.,15; and Martha E.,10.
Henry apparently had other daughters that were not in the home by the 1850 census. The 1840 census lists 3 females 5-10, and 1 female 10-15 in addition to 1 female 20-30.
Information compiled by Dorothy Wexler includes 2 other children: Hugh W., b.1860 and d.10/14/1864; and Henrietta, b.1871 and d. 9/2/1871.
