I'm afraid that I have not followed up to see all the entries posted here re. W.T. (prob. Wm. Thomas) Peay of Maury Co., TN. His parents, Jane (Stratton) & Thomas Peay are not on any TN census after 1850 and I'm trying to locate them. I am a descendant of Jane's father (William) through her (half) brother James T. Stratton. Her mother was Wm.'s first wife, Mary Haynes, who died in VA. He then married Mary "Polly" Hurt in VA before bringing his family to Maury Co. TN. Since the last record I have of Wm. is a land deed to Jane & Thomas Peay and no death record of him or the Peays in any part of TN, I need to find out where the Peays went.
Here is the info I have on the Peays in Maury Co., TN: I found this on microfilm in Columbia, TN: MAURY CO. DEED BOOK, p. 14:Thos. Peay & Wife deed of Gift of 73 3/4 acres, District No. 25. Executed by Wm. Stratton Febry 5th 1852.Registered July 13th 1852. "For the love and affection I entertain for Thomas Peay and his wife Jane Peay, I do hereby give, transfer & convey to them a tract of land in the State of TN, Maury Co., and in District number 25, containing be estimation 73 3/4 acres, and bounded as follows", etc. (for details, email me)
