Thanks, Hope.I'll have to hunt up my plat to be sure, but I believe that William A. Ford is selling Nicholas Peay the land that was his share of the inheritance from his father, William Gardner Ford.The estate wasn't settled until 1834.When WGF died in 1805, all the land was left to his widow Magdalen so long as she was able to manage it.When due to her age she wished to give up the land, her children had to petititon the Court of Equity to handle the distribution since Magdalen did not have "standing" in the court as a lifetime beneficiary only.At that time, the land was surveyed.If you like, when I find the plat, I'll be happy to scan it and send you a copy privately so you'll have a record of Nicholas Peay's purchase.
