Bob, This is a long-shot, but I am looking for the parents of John Maxwell PEAY who was born 15 OCT 1890 in Savannah, Chatham Co., GA.The only siblings that I have found so far are sister Ida May PEAY (born between 1889 -1892) and brother Brantley B. PEAY (b. c. 1894).
Ida May married John H. HEISE.In 1920, John and Ida HEISE were living in Columbia, Richland Co., SC.Their marriage license was issued in that county 23 DEC 1911.Ida's brother John M. PEAY, a widower, was living with them at that time.John PEAY's draft card for WWI stated that he was widowed with one dependent child (unnamed).
In 1930, John Heise, Ida and children John and Isabel were living in Brooklyn Borough, Kings Co., NY.Two households away are Brantley B. PEAY (head of household and single), his brother John PEAY, married, wife Muriel (nee PADGETT), son John W. (Webster) and their mother Isabella PEAY (widowed).John Maxwell PEAY and Muriel PADGETT were issued a marriage license in Richland Co., SC on 2 July 1921.
I haven't been able to place this family in the 1910 Census. The only Peay that comes close to John M.'s age in 1900 is in Betheda Orphan Asylum, Chatham Co., GA. where a John (age 13) and Tom (age 7 or 9)PEAY were "boarders."
I had not though about checking Panama.I wonder if it's possible that these PEAYS are somehow related -- perhaps cousins? Cheryl
