Children of Raimund Leo Pechotsch and Mary Curtis
1. Eric Joachim Pechotsch - Eric was a pianist who studied under Schwarenka and he served in the army during WW1.There was a brief mention in a periodical of a PECHOTSCH who was a Music Teacher in Australia in the 1920's.
(aka Eric Mareo, aka Eric Curtis) though he mysteriously does not appear in NSW records.Eric died in New Zealand in about 1960 having served a term of life imprisonment for his wife's murder.Eric was at the centre of an (in)famous murder trial in NZ in the 1930s.Basically Eric was (twice) sentenced to death for killing his wife, Thelma.
2. Norman L.Pechotsch - died at a very young age - possibly 8 months old.
3. Raimund A Pechotsch - A Violinist who performed under the name of 'JAN RUDENYI'.For a while in the 1890's, the family lived in Brisbane with Raimund Senior directing the St. Stephen's Cathedral Choir and his wife looking after the children in the choir school.Raimund Junior was something of a child prodigy on the violin and appeared in successful concerts at an early age starting with his debut at the Portman Rooms in London in 1897.He became the protégée of an American Concert Singer'BELLE COLE', who toured Australia around 1899/1900.This singer took the young Raimund overseas again in 1901 and he supported her on a US Tour.He commenced a solo concert career in England and Europe but decided to swap to the high class Moss and Stoll Music Hall Circuit.I don't know precisely when JAN RUDENYI became his stage name.It was as RUDENYI that quite a number of recordings were made. They are of course technically primitive but give a reasonable idea of the playing.Among the items recorded are some pieces written either by himself or his father.
From an undated newspaper obituary, it appears that Raimund Junior died very young of pneumonia during the 1st. World War.
