Stephen F. PECKHAM, writer of many scientific papers and an expert on petroleum, died yesterday at his home, 1261 Bergen street. He was born in Providence,R.I., eighty years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn since 1898. He was a graduate of Brown University. He had been employed as a chemist by the City of New York for twelve years and was also employed by the Federal Government. He was a veteran of the Civil War and a member of Grant Post, G.A.R.; the Society of Chemical Engineers, the American Philosophical Society and other organizations. He is survived by a widow, Dr. Harriet VAN BUREN PECKHAM;two daughters and one son. The funeral services will be held at 8 P.M. to-morrow at his late home. Interment Sunday at Providence,R.I. Brooklyn Standard Union obit of July 12, 1918.
