Nanci, I should have refered to "Pedens of America" in the first place to find a reference to your Josiah Wilson Morton.
My book is the 1978 edition, purchased June 22, 1983 from Lila Peden Sprouse (in person), for $15! Priceless. She autographed, dated and then handed the book to me at the Presbyterian Church in Fountain Inn SC, with Reverend Malcolm Bonner looking on.We met there to view the grave of my ancestor, Katherine White Peden, wife of Samuel Peden. And of course I also descend from Jane Peden thru her 2nd husband Robert Morrow.
Page 129-130 contains info c.1900 from Emma Morton of Lancaser Tx regarding your Josiah Wilson Morton, stating "The Peden who married the Morton (James or David)was my great grandmother. Her son, James Morton, was my grandfather....my father was Dr. Josiah Wilson Morton, the youngest of nine chidren..born near Fairview, Greenville Co SC. Left there for Tenn when nine years old. Married Jane Alexander in 1847, and afterwards moved to Miss, came to Texas in 1856 and died Feb 17, 1898."
