I said Madge by mistake.Aunt Madge Weaver was married to my grandmother's double-first cousin Allan J. Angevine and they were also cousins, hence the mistake.
Melinda Weaver Peeples was born March 1862 according to the 1900 census when she was a widow in Sunflower Co., MS. with son Willey A. (b. Jan 1880) and daughter Ella (born March 1886).Melinda was born in Mississippi and her parents in Mississippi and Georgia.
I don't see anybody in the 1870 Miss. census that really fit.Susan Weaver, 44-year-old widow in Pontotoc Co., had a 6-year-old daughter Ann.Wonder if that could be Melinda's middle name.Except that Susan was born in S.C., not Georgia.
In 1870 Chickasaw Co. census is a Martha L. (Coopwood?) Weaver age 27 born in GA. with husband James C. Weaver, age 30, b. in Ala.Listed under her is Mary Coopwood age 6 MS and James Coopwood age 4 which make me wonder if they could be Martha's children by a prior marriage.I wonder if Mary could be Melinda who later took the name Weaver.Just a thought.
