My name is James Carl Peery and I am looking for info on my great great grandfather, Carl Milton Peery. He was also known as Milton Peery and C. Milton Peery.
He was allegedly born in 1817 in Tazewell County, Va.
I do not know who his parents were.
He shows up in both the 1840 and 1850 census for Tazewell County, and is married to a Sarah A.
They had a son named Samuel W., born about 1840.
By 1857 he was in Gentry County, Missouri with his second wife, Joanna Brace Garrett Peery, who was raised in Indiana. Joanna was born in either Pennsylvania or New York, but raised in Indiana and in 1850 was living with her sisters' family in Decatur County, Indiana.
There was a Peery family in the same county and same township, Adams Township, in 1850, who may be a connection to Milton.
I have no info on how Milton died or when or where, but it appears that he died by 1865 and maybe in Missouri.
In 1850 Milton lived in Burkes Garden, Virginia.
He had three children that I know of in Missouri.
They were Steven Alexander Peery, 1861-1931, my great grand dad, Ellen Rachel Peery, 1857-1924, and Sarah E. Peery, Born in 1864, but I can't remember her date of death. Ellen Rachel and Sarah E are both buried in cemeteries near Albany, Missouri and Steven is buried in Nelson, Nebraska.
Milton was crippled, but I don't know in what way, and was a farmer and a Tailor. His grand son Roy C. Peery was crippled with a deformed foot and leg, which sounds like the Brown family disease, so Milton could have been a Brown descendant, but his son Stevens' wife was also a Brown descendant, so this could explain how Roy got the deformities.
