Maybe this will help.It seems to make the connections between the stories you've heard and read.I am a descendant of James so we maybe very very very distantly related if in fact there was a fifth brother Joseph.Even if not my ancestor saw fit to call him family and as a southerner that's the biggest compliment one can give so family by choice might be our connection. http://www.cc.utah.edu/~pdp7277/http://www.cc.utah.edu/~pdp7277/ This record begins with the Scots-Irish Peery families who immigrated to America early in the eighteenth century. Among them were four brothers, named John, Thomas, James and George, who settled in Augusta County, Virginia, probably near Staunton in the Shenandoah Valley, in 1740-42, over two-hundred fifty years ago.
There was a fifth Peery named Joseph, who was not one of the brothers, but was known to have associated with them. It is thought he may have originally come from Germany for he associated with German families who also settled in Virginia.
During the latter half of the century further emigration by family members took place, with some Peery families moving westward from Augusta County in Northeast Virginia to what eventually was to become known as Tazewell County in Southwest Virginia.
The purpose of this home page is to provide information and genealogy about Peery individuals and families for those who carry the Peery name or who are related or allied through descendency from early Peerys.
