Henry Pegram, RA., my great grandfather was a well known sculptor in the early 19th century was best known for his work in bronze. His best known works included 'Hylas'(1922)in Regents Park, London and for his great bronze candelabra in St Pauls Cathedral.His other works well known to the public are sculptures at the entrance to the Imperial Institute and at Oriel College, Oxford, and statues of Nurse Cavell at Norwich, Cecil Rhodes(one in London's Guildhall and another at Cape Town) Sir John Campbell at Auckland,Sir Thomad Browne at Norwich and Sir Robert Hart at Shanghai. Cunard War Memorial, Liverpool(1921). Busts of Earl Jellicoe, Lord Allenby and Lord Dawson.He died in 1937
Also related Bertram Pegram, who had frequent exhibitions in London and Paris. Known for his portrait memorials of Abraham Lincoln, General Armstrong, Robert Curtis Ogden, Senator Platt and others in the USA. He died in 1941
