I am a third generaton pegues living in East Texas. I am a desendent of Robert Pegues Sr., whose father was Henry Pegues son of the white slave owner Henry Hazard Pegues. Records show that he came with is slaves for marlboro, co SC. to settle in east texas.
I have research that shows Henry Hazard Pegues had several siblings throughout SC. It is my belief that everyone went seperate ways. Now i am not saying that we are all related, but most of us surely have a connection to the same people.
As a person of history we have to realize that on the pegues plantation they all had to last name pegues, but only a few of them were decendents of the white slave owner. That is one reason why there is so much confusion with this name. However we are still all one.
I am writing in hopes to make some connections with pegues in other state such as mississippi, tennesse, louisiana and i'm sure many more that i am missing. I anyone has information about their descendents please reply if u feel that we can make a connection.
By the way i am an african american female, my ancestors belong to the Post Oak CME Church, Longview, tx...Bishop Ronald Cunningham, Presiding Prelate.
HOPE A CONNECTION IS MADE SOON, WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A FAMILY REUNION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
