The Peloquins (Felix) that I am descended from were once voyageurs. Chippewa Falls is quite an old town and was originally a fur trade post because it was near the confluence of two major rivers- which were the superhighways of the day. As a fur trade town, it was made up of primarily voyageurs, "habitants" who lived there year round and their wives and children. Most of the people that lived there in the old days (1700's to 1850s) were mixed Indian and French and because of the old French connection, french speaking people settled there when they came to Wisconsin, though most of Wisconsin was french way back when.
How were your people related to Edward (Edouard) Felix (Peloquin?). Ray's info is indeed confusing if you try to go back before Edouard. Edouard (Peloquin dit) Felix was my GGrandfather, Joseph Peloquin was my grandfather, Marie Letendre was my grandmother. Josephs' siblings (my great uncles and aunts) were Edward Felix, Peter Felix, Charles Felix, and Malvina Felix, My father was Wilfred Alexander (Little Swede) peloquin and his siblings were Edward, Homer, Lucy, Julia (Judy), Emma, Bernadette, and Francis (Big Swede).
