Interested in one Sampson Pelter who resided in Waynesboro, Virginia. He was an owner of the old Rock Fish Tavern (sometimes known as "Mountain Top"). The old tavern has been gone for many years, but it had a significant series of events happen there. During the American Revolutionary War, it was where the Virginia legislaters later met when pursued by Conwallis's famous Tarlton and his Calvary.
Rock Fish Tavern had a further significance. It was where Gen. Robert E. Lee traveled on his way to Washington University to become its president.
