I was wondering if anyone here might have any information on the family of Russell Burton Pelton.
I don't have a lot of information on him and most of what I currently have came from an odd looking page I found through Google, but all of the information I previously had matches so I'm assuming the rest is for the correct Russell Pelton, however it is possible that some of this information is incorrect.
He was born on November 5, 1936 in Torbrook, Annapolis Co., NS. He passed away on June 3, 1997 at Stewart Memorial Hospital, Tyne Valley, P.E.I. and was buried at St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, Port Hill, P.E.I. (The PEI genealogy society web site's cemetery survey confirms that there is a Russell Pelton buried there, if anyone happens to have a picture of the grave stone please let me know.)
His father was Everett LeRoy (Roy) Pelton (son of Unk Pelton and Mabel Shaw) and his mother was Elsie Isabell Veinot (daughter of Owen Veinot and Grace Vidito).
The information I have indicates that Russell was married three times. He had three children with his first wife (2 girls and a boy) and one with his second (a boy), and was married to his third when he died.
According to an obituary I found he had one sister, Phyllis, and 5 brothers, Leonard, Robert, Richard, Donald, and Ray (predeceased). According the obituary Phyllis, Richard and Donald all lived in Ontario at the time of his death, and Leonard and Robert were still living in NS. While the obituary makes no reference to any nieces or nephews, I know that Donald has a daughter. I believe there were others, at least one boy and one other girl who were in Nova Scotia.
As far as I know Russell was raised on a farm in Nova Scotia. At some point, presumably as an adult, he moved to Toronto, Ontario (where according to an obituary all four of his children reside) and worked for the Ontario Ministry of Education. I know he was still living in Toronto in early 1989 and I believe at that time unmarried (although his marital status at the time isn't clear), so the move to P.E.I. and presumably the marriage to his third wife would have to be after the spring of 1989.
Does anyone have any information on Russell and/or other members of the family? Anything you could provide would be appreciated.
A related but unrelated note: Roughly 35 years ago there was a service station in Nova Scotia owned by one of his relatives. I don't know if it was one of the brothers or another relative but it did use the Pelton name, it was something like Pelton's Service Center or something similar and I believe it was affiliated with Esso. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
