You wrote:"I have a picture of Lena with her three brothers and one sister named Lori I think (hard to read handwriting). One of the brothers is named Tim Atteberry. It says that he was a teacher and an artist."
I don't know anything except vitals about Lena but her brother Tim ATTEBERRy was a teacher and an artist, a very good artist. He won some awards at the State Fair, my father told me. For years we had one of his oil paintings whose frame he also made, up on our walls. My father still has it and he and I wanted to put it up even though it doesn't go with our interior decorating and all of that. Anyway, we do have it.
Also, I don't know where you are, but if anyone is in Dallas County, Buffalo, the First Christian Church there has one of his paintings on the wall. One of the cookbooks that the church issued was edited by my grandmother Blanche PENDERGRAFT BENNETT. She included a photograph of that painting on the inside cover of the cook book.
The cookbook has both ATTEBERRY and PENDERGRAFT recipes and others by BENNETTS and others related mostly.
The ATTEBERRY shed is where there is a small graveyard and is, I believe, just outside of the church. If you contact me, I can give you contact from that church or I might be able to get one of my cousins back there to take a picture of it. I was thinking of reproducing the cookbook if the church will let me or maybe they could do it themselves.
It's a small booklet, not huge. Also, it has some ATTEBERRY ads in it as I recall.
My father may remember Tim ATTEBERRY's children. I think one of my older aunts may remember some of the ATTEBERRY's too and she is invovled or was involved in the Dallas County Historical Society.
The Dallas C. Historical Society puts out a book called THE HISTORY OF DALLAS County and it has some references to the ATTEBERRIES in it too. Tim ATTEBERRY, for example, is discussed in the ARTS section. Teachers are discussed in another section and they should be there. The book is still in print and well worth getting. The Index isn't that good though because I found a lot of things in the book that weren't indexed. Best to read it front ot back. If you get it I can also send you the page numbers I took down in addition to the book's index.
I suggest writing the Dallas County Historical Society and also going to the Dallas County Genealogical Society - they are separate. I haven't really got to my ATTEBERRY's yet, but will send you some more information if you contact me.
