James W. 'Jim' Penley, 47, of Pyburn Lane, Greeneville, Greene Co TN, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Penley attended Friendship Baptist Church as long as his health permitted.
His family stated he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and brother.
He was a son of the late Taylor Cleve and Ruth Virginia Penley.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Vonnie Bell Penley; three sons, Matthew Duyvejonck, Mark Duyvejonck, and Jamie Duyvejonck; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers and one sister-in-law, Guy Penley, Dorsa Penley, Clint and Dorothy Penley, John Carson, and Echo Penley; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille and Rickie Bowser, Beatrice and Charlie Penley, and Bonnie and Bobby Guy; special niece, Marie Penley Myers; a special aunt, Clyde Smith; a special uncle, Archie Bowser; his sisters- in-law and brothers-in-la, Pat and Steve Bartlett and Mary and Robert Manon.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Pine Grove Baptist Church and other times at the family home on Pyburn Lane.
The funeral service will follow visitation at the church. The Rev. Rex Miller and the Rev. Ronnie Baxter will officiate. Pallbearers will be Matt Duyvejonck, Mark Duyvejonck, Rickie Bowser, Berthel Bowser, Johnny Light, Ulyss 'Bussy' Miller, Buford Crenshaw, and Denver Penley. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Ormshee, Jerry Light, Brent Penley, and Richard Guy.
A committal service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday morning, August 21, 2009, in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
