The Parish Records of Middleton and nearby Cropton provide no information on Thomas though his death is shown in Pickering Parish Record, ("1706 March 26. Thomas of Middleton").
It is also curious that though Thomas is described as a Mason in his Will, his possessions at the time of his death include no stone working tools, etc. From his goods one would have assumed him to have been a farmer. The references to linen are interesting as Middleton had a serious linen weaving and flax growing industry at that time and "linnen on the hedge" could have referred to cloth which was bleaching, etc. rather than merely cloth of his household.
