In today's obituary of actor Marlon Brando, in THE NEW YORK TIMES, it mentions that he was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1924 and that his mother was Dorothy Pennebaker. He was the only boy among at least 4 or more sisters.
His parents separated in 1935 and Dorothy and the children (Florence, Jocelyn, Marlon, and younger sisters) went to California. The parents reconciled in 1937 and lived in the Evanston and Libertyville areas of Illinois. FLorence and Jocelyn went to New York City in the early 1940's to become actors, and Marlon followed them in 1943.
Does anyone posting here know the history of Dorothy PENNEBAKER and her family line ? It is most often a surname with Dutch or German origins. How did they get to Omaha, Nebraska ? Who was the immigrant ancestor who first came to America ?
