Nancy, Sorry for taking so long to respond. I have been blessed to have recently received a bunch of great information concerning Jeremiah from Louis Fackler, to whom I am indebted for his assistance. The below is some of that information. He may be monitoring this message board and might possibly jump in.Anyway, what I have from his information is the following:
The 1860 Federal Census for Zerbe Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania (July 1860) Page 711 lists the following: Jeremiah Pennypacker age 39, Tailor Jane, age 36 (first wife, Rebecca Jane Adams) born NY. Sylvester, age 15, born PA (possible brother of Jeremiah or daughter Celeste?) Elizabeth, age 8, born PA. Ellen, age 6, born PA. George, age 3 born PA.
1870 Federal Census for Town of Trevorton, Zerbe Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, (August 1850) Page 548 lists the following, all born in Pennsylvania. Pennypacker, Jeremiah, age 47, Laborer Mary, age 42, Keeping house (First wife, Jane died 27 January 1867) Celeste, age 22 Lizzie (Elizabeth) age 18 Ellen, age 15 George, age 12 Mary, age 6 (My grandmother Mary May Pennypacker, born 2 September 1862.) Ross, Frank, age 9 “in the family”
George would have been born in 1857 in Trevorton, PA and was born to Jeremiah when he was 35 years old and married to Rebecca Jane (Adams), born about 1824 and died 1/27/1867 in Trevorton, PA.
Jeremiah was born October 14, 1822 in Mifflin, Columbia County, PA.Jeremiah was 66 years old when my great-grandfather (Edward Pennypacker) was born to him. My grandfather (Stanley Pennypacker) remembered his father Edward telling him some quite colorful stories about Jeremiah.
I do not see a Charles listed anywhere in my records for Jeremiah. If you have any information on George, including wife and descendents, I'd appreciate you sending me this!
Thanks, I hope this helps. If you want more info, let me know. Blaine S. Pennypacker
