Joe R. Pepple of Waynesfield, Ohio sent a reply to a letter to me in 1988 on the Pepple's. The letter states that two German Hessian mercenaries who served with the British in the Revolutionary war were Pepple's. When the war ended they were not wanted in the 13 colonies so they went west. One settled in the area of Evert, Penn. and took up with an Indian and those who Joe talked to tell the same story. The other one which is Joe's gr.gr.great grandfather came west to Ohio and he also took up with an Indian female and had several children. He left this woman and went to Greenville, Ohio and had more children with another Indian female. He left her and went to N. Dakkota, near Fargo and yep, took up with another Indian female and had more kids. Joe goes on talk about verifying some of this with other relatives who say there is some Indian ancestory. Joe's gr. great grandfather was William. His great grandfather was John, his father Colby. Hope this helps.
