I located some 2010 records in Find-a-Grave for several people with surname Perkins who are buried in the cemeteries in Bond County, Illinois. My own Perkins roots lead from Stones River, Rutherford County, Tennessee to Dry Point Township, Shelby County, Illinois when my 3X great grandfather, Jessee Perkins and wife Mariah moved their family about 1841.
For the past 7 or 8 years, I have been researching the family and learned that a Perkins family came to Bond County, Illinois in the 1820s.
There is no mention in my Perkins family records of any relationship between Bond County and Shelby County, Ill Perkins'.
I have been unsuccessful in locating any living descendant of the Bond County family who might have information.
There are several common male given names in the two families.Jessee, John and Leroy being two most common.
My 2X great grandfather was John Leroy Perkins 1826-1926.It is his conversations with his grandson that serve as the basis for much of what has been written about the Shelby County Perkins'.My great uncle, i.e. my grandfather's brother, wrote a letter about 1948 that outlines what he remembers learning from his grandfather, John Leroy Perkins.
I am writing with the hope some one can provide documentedlinks between the Bond County and Shelby County, IL Perkins family.
