In the research of the PERMAR family I made acquaintance with a PERMAR descendant in Ohio. She provided me with a letter one of her ancestors had written in 1911 detailing the family history. If you would like a copy of this letter I can provide you with it. I cannot post the entire 7 page letter here.
ANYWAY. the letter establishes the fact that the PERMARS in Concord Delaware County PA,( Chester County in the early days) were descendants of James Permar. James Permar was one of the older children of William Permar(who died in 1779) and of his first wife. This James Permar was the 1/2 BROTHER of JOHN PERMAR, of William's SECOND wife andthe one who moved to Ohio when his mother remarried after William's death in 1779.
The letter establishes that the family were orginally farmers from the EASTERN SHORE OF MARYLAND in the 18TH century. Maryland census data from 1777 onward is online and I have found the PERMARS farming in Caroline County from 1777-1820.(Caroline County was made from Queen Anne County) By 1830 they are all out of Caroline County and some appear in DELAWARE COUNTY, PA. Be advised that the name in these early censuses are often misspelled however, when I check transcribed data for Caroline county if the mispelled name is carried over to the next census one can see it is altered again but is THE SAME FAMILY. You can do this research for yourself but if you would like what I have have transcribed from the 1777, 1778, 1790, 1800, 1810 and 1820 census of Caroline County MARYLAND please email me.
The link is there. William Permar and his son James were farmers in Caroline County MD in the late 18th century and had families there. This son James farmed there in 1810 and his wife Rachel farmed there after his death and is in the 1820 census. Whythe rest of the family left I do not know at this point.
