Perreau family
Hi to all that have posted messages so far.I stumbled across these the other day, and it surprised me, as it is a subject close to my heart.
I have a "Keith Perreau Family Page" set up on Family Tree Maker, and it seems that none of you have viewed it.
I am a direct Perreau descendent of John Perreau b:London 1785 about whom some of the discussions have mentioned. He was my gt.gt.grandfather (as he was for Merv Mathews: we do know each other with regard to Family History, and have shared much information).I too was born in New Zealand, but am now resident in Western Australia and am now an Australian citizen.I believe I have the most information on the Perreau descent lines pertaining to NZ and Australia, but there is still more to learn. My present printout down from John is some 22 pages long, being almost entirely descendents of John Alfred (my gt.grandfather), Frederick Griffiths, and Edward Charles; these three sons from John's 2nd marriage. These three emigrated to NZ in the 1800's.
There are other Perreau families here in Perth who are of Eurasian origins from Kuala Lumpur and I think, Singapore.I know some of them, but have not been able to learn much of their family backgrounds.I have the feeling they may be reluctant to discuss these matters, although we are on good friendly terms
I am extremely interested in the line of information from you Jim Day, for in part you echo my own reasonings about the father of John being his executed Grandfather, and also because I have in my possession a partial hand-drawn family tree starting with Daniel Perreau and Elizabeth Breton who were the parents of the Perreau twins and 4 sisters and 1 brother. This shows the line down to the marriage on 28 Apr 1812of Francis Mary Perreau and Charles Day, and further. But it doesn't show a Charles as a son of Robert Britton, only Robert Samuel, a Francis Bloomer b:1770, an Eliza, and Frances Keeble b:1771.
It seems as if Robert Samuel Perreau may have married twice 1)Mary Cooper in 1786 and 2) Mrs Elizabeth Brahan in 1803 from whom Mary Frances Perreau was born; and that two families arose from him.
Other names such as Cooper, Horton, Thomas, Robeson, Rigbye, Deighton, to mention a few are shown.
This paper maent very little to me other than showing the twins as born 1733, with Robert marryingHenrietta Alice Thomas on 2 Feb 1758, and Daniel marrying a Margaret (? unknown surname) with no date specified.
My email address is
Meantime, good hunting
