"George Petrie, 75, Resident of Windsor For 32 Years, Dies
George Petrie, 75, a resident of Windsor since 1902, died at his home here at 9:40 on Friday morning. He had a stoke of paralysis about 40 minutes before his death.
Mr. Petrie was born in Russia on Jan 1, 1859. He was married to Elizabeth Vogel on April 18, 1893, and the couple with several small children came to America in 1901, locating in Oklahoma. They came from there to Windsor a year later, and they have since made their home here.
For years he was an employee of Osterhout and Charles and of the Boise-Payette Lumber Company. Being of an industrious and thrifty nature, Mr. Petrie had acquired two residence properties in Windsor. He had become very attached to the town and friends and expressed a wish to remain here until his death. Since 1913 he had been a citizen of the United States.
Mr. Petrie is survived by his five daughters, Mrs. J.J. Schwartzkopf of Windsor, Mrs. W.A. Adamson of Evans, Mrs. A.L. Graff of Ault, Mrs. H.P. Schuppe of Eaton, Mrs. J.R. Shaffer of Windsor; one son John Petrie of Windsor; two step-daughters, Mrs. Fred Brunkhardt, of Sterling; Mrs. J.W. Newcomb of Evans, all of whom were here for the funeral. There are also 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the last of his family, and had to his knowledge only two nieces, Mrs. Alex Buderas of Wellington, Mrs. Jake Rein of Mitchell, Nebr., and a nephew, Henry Rein of Ponco City, Oklahoma.
Pall-bearers were Jake Zulauf, Henry Loffing, George Wamboldt, Frederick Martin, Phillip Jacoby, and Andrew Heinz.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Jake Petrie of Laporte, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Buderas, Henry Buderas, Mr. and Mrs. Steeley, Mr. and Mrs. August Gross, Mr. and Mrs. Meyer, all of Fort Collins; Mr. and Mrs. Graefe of Greeley; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weigand and Mr. and Mrs. Adam Bruntz of LaSalle; Mrs. Adam Graff, son and wife, of Ault; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Brunkhardt of Hillrose; Mrs. Louise Schuppe of Sterling; Mr. and Mrs. George Weglin of Greeley; Mrs. Katie Voit of Greeley; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Knaub of Fort Collins; Henry Rein, Gehring Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Rein of Mitchell, Nebr."
