NASSAU Wayne S. Pettit, 44, of Nassau, died suddenly Wednesday, December 21, 2005 after being stricken at his residence. Wayne was born in Troy, the son of Wayne H. Pettit and Pauline Vogel Pettit. He moved to Nassau 28 years ago from Green Island. At the time of his death, Wayne was employed as a mechanic for CDTA. He was an avid race car enthusiast and had driven stock cars, dragsters and sprints at Lebanon Valley Race Track for 26 years. In addition to his parents of Port Richey, Fla., Wayne is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Bonner) Pettit. He is also survived by two brothers, Warren Pettit of East Greenbush and William Pettit of Nassau; three sisters, Patrice Johnson of Schodack, Pamela Corellis of Nassau and Paula Burtt of Prattville, Ala.; two nieces and one nephew.Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery in Nassau.
