William B. Davis, born February 1844, in either Mcminn County, Tennessee or North Alabama. I believe he married Malinda Springer on May 18, 1865 in Lauderdale County, Alabama. The 1880 Limestone County, Alabama census shows their children as follows: Nancy age 14 – Nancy married Joseph Evan Shoemaker on January 2, 1881. Mocela age 11 Mollie age 5 George age 3 James age 8/12 Joe and Nancy had 3 children that I know of. They are as follows: Lizzie born September 1884 Ida L. born December 1887 – married Will Bush on November 23, 1910 in Lauderdale County, Alabama. William Burl born August 1890 – married Beulah unknown before 1920. Joe and Nancy are not together in the 1900 census. I believe they divorced after William was born, since Joe was remarried by 1905. In 1900 Joe was in Wayne County, Tennessee, while Nancy was living with her father and his second wife Emma unknown in Lauderdale County, Alabama. Only one of her children was living with her. Any information on the family of William B. Davis would be appreciated. UPDATED INFORMATION BELOW. From information I have seen on other websites I am including the following information to my original posting. As I stated in my original post William B.Davis had 3 daughters listed in the 1880 Limestone County Census. They were Nancy age 14, Mocela age 11 and Mollie age 5. Nancy married Joseph Evan Shoemaker on 02 January 1881 in Limestone County. Mosella married Thomas Crittenden Cox 19 February 1889 in Lauderdale County. Mollie married John Overton Pettus 29 April 1894 in Lauderdale County. I am still trying to find out what happened to Nancy after the 1900 census. If anyone out there researching the Cox or Pettus family in Lauderdale County has information on Nancy Davis Shoemaker or her children please reply. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.
